Sarah Skinner

Hi, I’m Sarah.  I am the Head of Tots (Colehill Cottage) and I have been working at Barkley Manor since November 2010.

My love of dogs started when I was very young growing up with a family dog called Mischief, a fox terrier who lived up to her name.

After finishing school, I studied Travel and Tourism and worked in the industry for 7 years.  During this time, I was fortunate enough to travel to a number of destinations in Australia and the Pacific Islands.

I love hanging out with my “monster” Shih Tzu cross Bichon Frise called Molly who I have enjoyed teaching lots of tricks and watching her grow into a fun loving and strong willed independent little sidekick.

When I got a dog of my own she became a significant part of my life and thanks to her going to Barkley Manor for her regular grooms, has opened my eyes to the world of dogs.

In 2010 I decided to pursue my passion for dogs and I completed a certificate in Canine Behaviour and Training at Unitec. During my year of study, I did work experience at Barkley Manor where I fell in love with both the dogs and staff there.

What I like the most about Barkley Manor is watching a pack of dogs running around playing off leash in a controlled but fun environment and seeing how happy they are. I love watching a dog come out of their shell and grow in confidence, and knowing that we helped them along the way puts a huge smile on my face. 

I feel like I really do have the best job in the world.  Every day I get to hang out with all your cute furry kids watching them grow and experience new things, which brings out their personalities.  Seeing them progress makes us fall in love and I’m proud of each and every one of them.
